Privacy Policy
Last updated 30 May 2026
urAfro helps small businesses in Zimbabwe run a shop from their phone — listing products, sharing a storefront link, and tracking orders, payments and deliveries. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Who this applies to
urAfro is used by two kinds of people: merchants, who create an account to run a shop, and shoppers, who place orders on a merchant's storefront. This policy covers both.
Information we collect
- Merchant account details. The phone number or email you use to sign in, and the store details you provide — store name, tagline, location, business type, and the products and photos you upload.
- Shopper order details. When you place an order on a storefront, the merchant collects your name, phone number, delivery address, and the items in your order so they can fulfil and deliver it.
- Usage data. Basic technical information needed to run and secure the service, and small cookies or local storage that keep you signed in and remember the items in your cart.
We do not collect or store card or bank account numbers. Payments for goods are arranged directly between the shopper and the merchant and recorded by the merchant manually.
How we use information
- To provide the service — display storefronts, take orders, and track payments and deliveries.
- To let merchants fulfil orders and contact shoppers about them.
- To keep the service secure and to fix problems.
We do not sell your personal information.
WhatsApp and third parties
Orders are often confirmed and coordinated over WhatsApp. urAfroopens a pre-filled WhatsApp message for you, but once you send it the conversation happens inside WhatsApp and is governed by WhatsApp's own terms and privacy policy. We also rely on trusted service providers to run the platform — including a database and file host (hosted in the European Union) and our application host. They process data only to provide their services to us.
Merchants and their customers
Each merchant is responsible for the personal information of their own customers and for handling it lawfully. urAfrostores and processes that information on the merchant's behalf so their shop can run. Shops are isolated from one another — one merchant cannot see another merchant's orders or customers.
How long we keep it
We keep account and order information for as long as the account is active or as needed to provide the service and keep business records. You can ask us to delete information that we are not required to retain.
Security
Information is encrypted in transit, access is restricted, and each shop's data is isolated at the database level. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
Your choices
You can access, correct, or delete your information. If you are a shopper and want an order or your details changed or removed, contact the merchant you ordered from, or reach us at the address below and we will help.
Children
urAfro is not directed at children under 18.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "last updated" date at the top of this page.
